Occupy Protesters Blast Rep. Rangel For Supporting Trade Agreements
(New York, NY) – The Occupy Wall Street movement continues today with a protest against New York Congressman Charlie Rangel. Demonstrators are planning a march to Rangel’s office this morning to protest his support for trade agreements they say lock in deregulation of Wall Street. A post on the official Occupy Wall Street website blasts Rangel for voting to approve the free trade agreements with South Korea and Panama. The post says those agreements also encourage companies to outsource jobs to sweatshops and help corporations hide money in Panamanian banks to avoid paying taxes.
