Pentagon bows to radical pressure to recognize gay troops.
WASHINGTON – Last summer, gays in the military dared not admit their sexual orientation. This summer, the Pentagon will salute them, marking gay pride month just as it marks other celebrations honoring racial or ethnic groups. Officials said Thursday that they’re planning the first-ever event to recognize gay and lesbian troops. They declined to give details about what the event will be, but officials said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta feels it’s important to recognize the service of gays in the armed forces.
What is the matter with this nation that suddenly leaders seemed compelled to recognize a life-style choice, as if it somehow has anything to do a person’s accomplishments in or contributions to the military or anything else in society for that matter. I guess the more noise you make, eventually the more recognition you can garner. This is not an ethic group nor does it have any other distinctive nature that would merit it being recognized for anything. Shame on this administration and the military for to cowering to the demands of the gay and lesbian movement. However, I guess it will muster up a few more votes from a minority sector of the public. Give me a break!
