School Resumes As Chicago Teachers End Strike
(Chicago, IL) – The teachers strike is over in Chicago and kids are headed back to school today for the first time in over a week. Teachers union representatives voted to approve a tentative contract yesterday afternoon, ending the first strike by public school teachers in that city in 25 years. Key issues that had to be resolved in order to get thousands of teachers off the picket lines and back in the classrooms included pay raises, how teachers are evaluated and what to do with teachers who have been laid off.
